About this Course:
The intensive Charlton Brown High School Preparation classes consist of 25 hours of face-to-face instruction per week. Attention is given to developing all macro-skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) as students engage in theme-based study. Students will learn about Australian culture and school culture. Teachers will also equip students with the language skills needed to participate in and succeed in the mainstream classroom. Additionally, students will receive instruction in Maths, Science and Computer Technology, along with skills for developing learner autonomy. A particular focus is given to fostering learner autonomy, as Charlton Brown recognises the importance of student achievement beyond the HSP Programme. Students will have the opportunity to write academic papers, give spoken presentations, participate in class activities, and access online learning resources. Continuous assessment of students' learning will provide the feedback necessary to stay on track for entering the mainstream classroom at the expected date. Hi Everyone, I look forward to meeting you in our High School Preparation program. I enjoy teaching English to speakers of other languages as I have experienced the same difficulties learning and living in a foreign country. I enjoyed teaching and studying in China for 8 years and before that teaching in Japan for 2 years. Living abroad has taught me the obstacles that can be thrown at you living in a country with different languages and cultures, which is why it gives me great joy helping our students to overcome these hurdles and help them to learn more about Australian culture and people.
